Repetition
There is a certain pattern
in the history of man
of recurring violence,
destruction,
mostly motivated
by greed,
the lust for power
driving us mad with hunger
for acquisition
at the expense of others,
no matter who it harms.
The lack of wisdom,
moderation, self control
has eradicated
clans, tribes, nations,
empires
removed by war,
the acme
of human achievement.
